TERRAZZO

Let’s talk terrazzo. Terrazzo is a composite material consisting of chips of marble, quartz, granite, glass and shells poured with a cement or epoxy binder. This unique flooring choice is popular in large public spaces like schools, restaurants and airports due to its incredible durability. Because it is typically poured into a cast, it does not have grout lines, making its upkeep even easier!

Cared for properly, terrazzo will last and look great for a long time. A recent resurgence in popularity has seen this fun flooring choice show up on walls, countertops, furniture pieces and even as a pattern on stationary and paper goods! If we haven’t mentioned it, we love terrazzo and if you have this type of flooring in your home or office, you should know we are DFW’s trusted terrazzo cleaning and restoration experts.

Terrazzo Cleaning

Just like marble and travertine, your terrazzo floors will eventually need a professional cleaning in order to look their best. Terrazzo cleaning by Bizaillion Stone Floor Restoration is the way to go because we know terrazzo. Our commercial-grade equipment produces a better result than anything you could accomplish on your own. Our special cleaners emulsify grease and dirt build-up, lifting it from the surface of the floor.

We use a diamond abrasive pad to help remove or lighten deep stains, remove any wax build-up, restoring the original surface. Note: Poured terrazzo floors have brass or nickel in place of grout lines. The brass and nickel or other metal material are also restored during the cleaning process.

Terrazzo Restoration and Protection

When we restore a terrazzo floor, we strip off all the wax and diamond hone the floors to reveal the original stone. A properly restored Terrazzo floor will look beautiful for up to 10-20 years, making it one of the easiest floors to maintain. Talk about great value!

Holes & Cracks

As with our travertine and marble repair, we use epoxy made specifically for these types of surfaces. Remember, because Terrazzo is typically poured into a cast, it does not have grout lines, making its care even easier.

Diamond Honing (matte)

Diamond honing is a wet sanding process that removes a very thin layer of the surface. Our honing process restores shine and removes any light scratches. Our process of diamond honing is very different from that of many of our competitors, who use diamond-abrasive pads, an inferior product that produces an inferior result.

Diamond Polishing (high shine)

At Bizaillion Stone Floor Restoration, polishing is the final step in your floor’s restoration journey and is done after diamond honing, as this produces the best (and most beautiful!) results. We use a form of polishing called crystallizing. More about our unique process here, but trust us when we say that crystallizing is a great option as the last step in polishing a floor because most floors will only require crystallizing 2-3 times in the time a homeowner lives in a house. Crystallizing takes lots of experience and understanding to become proficient. At Bizaillion, we know how to use these polishes to strengthen, expand the life of a floor and protect it from losing its luster.

Sealing

Sealing is essential if you want to preserve your floor’s natural beauty. Additional benefits of sealing your terrazzo floor? Keeping it clean will require much less effort. And quality sealers (the kind we use) prevent mold or bacteria from developing.
